Honoring Service. Building Strength.
This past week, we had the honor of joining Liberty Mutual Insurance for a special VALOR Veteran Employees Organization event — a community of Veterans, family members, and allies dedicated to supporting those who’ve served.
The 90-minute keynote and training, “Anatomy of Human Resilience: Before, During, and After an Event,” brought together more than 400 members across Liberty Mutual’s network — with an in-person audience of about 45 that included Liberty Mutual’s COO, whose gracious attendance spoke volumes about the company’s genuine commitment to its Veterans and their families.
BG (Ret.) Rhonda Cornum, PhD, MD shared hard-won lessons of courage, adaptability, and recovery from her experience as a POW. I then followed with The Science of Resilience and a hands-on skill we call Values-Based Living — a practice for strengthening resilience by aligning personal purpose with organizational values.
Liberty Mutual’s own guiding principles — Be Open, Keep it Simple, Put People First, Make Things Better, and Act Responsibly — beautifully mirror the foundation of resilient living. It’s no surprise they’ve been recognized repeatedly by Military Times as a “Best for Vets” employer.
To everyone at Liberty Mutual and across the VALOR network — thank you for your warmth, your openness, and your example of leadership through service.
And to all who’ve served, and those who support them — Happy Veterans Day. 🇺🇸
Your strength, and the strength you inspire in others, is what resilience is all about.
If your organization is seeking a keynote or training that blends real-world experience with evidence-based resilience science, we’d be honored to bring this dedicated and impactful event to your team.
